About the Instructor

Emily Skoutelas is a singer and teacher, whose love of music started from before she can remember.

After obtaining her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota - School of Music, she moved to New York City to continue performing and teaching, and to work as an administrator at The Juilliard School in the Vocal Arts department, running curriculum and special projects.

After years of working in NYC in the music industry, Emily decided to return to her true passion, performing and teaching. She recently obtained her MA in Vocal Performance at Hunter College. Post graduate work, Emily maintained a private studio, working with young students preparing Broadway auditions in NYC.

Emily, her husband, and two babies now reside in the downtown Chicago area, where she continues to teach privately. She is thrilled to be joining the New Music School Faculty focusing on Early Childhood music. She believes strongly that the love of music begins early, and hopes to foster music appreciation in the children and caregivers she works with.
